I hate welfare

I’m a normal guy with a normal family and a normal job. I don’t make that much money, but I’m not poor. Myself and the millions like me are getting SCREWED! I don’t make enough money to keep up with the rising prices of gas, food and other daily needs, but I’m not in a annual bracket that would allow financial aid.

I believe that the welfare system is broken… Being that I’m not the kind of person to oppose something without offering some sort of solution (even if the solution is uneducated). Welfare does not encourage people to move forward and make more money for the family. Welfare is  very counterproduction by nature. This broken system actually encourages people to keep the low annual figures so that they may keep the aid that they’ve been accustom to. I realize that there are people in this world that NEED aid. However, a vast majority of aid recipients are able-bodied individual that take advantage of the system.

Normal people with normal jobs

Normal People with Normal Jobs (NPWNJ) are the feeding pool for the welfare leaches. It’s no big secret. I believe that it’s necessary to implement a few rules to help regulate the Welfare leaches. Here’s the rules I think should be strictly enforced for people to qualify for welfare

1.) People drawing welfare should be subject to random drug tests.

Why I feel this way: I strongly believe that clean drug test results should be a requirement for people to be able to draw welfare or ANY other kind of financial aid. In my experience, people that are using illegal drugs usually lack ambition, motivation and\or have a low quality of life. By implementing this rule we can knock out two birds with one stone, so to speak. crack down on illegal drugs and shorten the welfare line (A ton can be written on this idea, but I’m not going to get to detailed with this entry)

How to make it happen: A lot of people will agree with my statement, but even more will disagree or wonder how I’d go about paying for all these drug tests. Well, I’m not an expert (I’m just a NPWNJ) but here’s how I’d do it. The test will wipe out at least 25% of Welfare recipients in the beginning, so the money that’s saved there should help pay for the tests. Another approach is to have the recipeant PAY for their own test. Federal discounts can be give at bulk rate.

2.) People drawing welfare should have an aid duration time based on physical condition

Why I feel this way: If someone is physically able to work but refuses, then those people should be cut off entirely. Welfare duration should fluctuate based on the individuals physical condition. This would encourage healthy people to step it up a notch and take pressure of the working class. People that are unhealthy should benefit from longer coverage durations.

How to make this happen: Some may see my approach as insensitive. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to cater to everyones beliefs.

3.) Aid WILL NOT be automatically give to individuals based on the fact that they are not Caucasian or use English as a second language.

Why I feel this way:I’ve looked into day care (most of you know.. it’s outrageous). A friend of mine was able to get full financial aid because English is a secondary language in his house hold. Even though they are in this country illegally… he is able to get a free ride because English is not his primary spoken language. It sickens me when I think about how much money I’ll have to shell out when my child goes to daycare. It’s money that’s not in my budget… it’s money I don’t have. But, I’ll make it work because that’s my only choice.

How to make this happen:This one is easy…. If you are not a legal citizen you will NOT benefit from our financial aid programs.

This thing could go on and on… but I’m done for now.

  1. You should really look into reading the Ashes series by William Johnstone. He has passed away but they are rereleasing the series with new covers. Granted its post-apocalyptic but his rebuilding ideas are based on what is wrong with our current society. One of which is definitely what your post is about! The first book is Out of The Ashes and you can probably pick it up used pretty cheaply on half.com. Awesome series and I couldn’t agree with you more!

  2. I agree with you 100% word for word. I do not have the pleasure of having children yet but I am married and we get back but we are young, middle class, hard working americans. I live in south Florida. It kills me that my friends have to dish so much out in child care while Paco and his entire ILLEGAL immigrant family get money for child care and food stamps. Why this happens blows my mind. I have a lot of compassion for people in need but at the same time I am trying to make my life here and it’s not fair that services are more accessible here to illegal immgrants. If you came here and got american citizenship then you are not who I am refering to. I have an uncle that is the epitome of a welfare bum. He is in his 40’s and 20′2 years ago he hurt his back pretty bad. He of course got disability which gives him enough to get by. He stil lives in a retirement community and attends class once a week (one of the stipulations is that you have to have college classes towards a degree in order to get aid WHICH I AGREE WITH however my uncle takes a bs class every term and has been doing that for 12 years now. You’d think someone who tell him to get a job but no. He buses at a bar one night a week (gets free booze) and pocket money for drugs. Seriouslly not cool with me at all. Thanks for the good read and good luck with the day care fiasos! If you can find a day care that is out of someone’s home that will be cheaper for you….just make sure they have a child care license. Peace!

  3. yeah, I agree. My husband and I both work, and when the taxes are taken out, we barely bring home enough to live on. When I drive by the projects and see all the able-bodied people setting on their porches, all the young teens roaming the street (why their not in school I have no clue, but school is probably better off without them) and down at the local convience market buying lotto tickets and tall ones, it makes me sick. It makes me wish the government as I know it would fall and someone, anyone else, would take charge and kick them all off their free ride. I have no idea how I’ll send my boy to college and it’s already too late for my daughters. Beautiful bright girls, their out there trying to work their way up in a system that believes in quota’s for minorities and priviledge for the children of the rich. For us average americans, there’s nothing left. Even the grandparents are in on the scam these days. If their daughter comes home bringing baby, the check helps out and most grandparents love the grandkids so that’s a win win for them. But it’s the saddest thing I have ever saw. The children barely have a mother, because she’s out running with this guy and that guy, and their only source of something close to a family will be those same grandparents. Then one day, the daughter moves out, takes her welfare, moves the new boyfriend in, and the children suffer horribly from that point on. This is only one scenario, there are many, many. Every single woman I know on welfare is lying about something. One I know lies and tells the agency that she is renting from her boyfriend. Pleezzz….And I get ask at least three times a month if I’ll give someone cash, in exchange for double the amount from their ebt card in groceries. And almost all of them have continued to have a second or third child on welfare. And their kids seem to have so many types of illnesses, simple things, but the good doctors seem to find problems with these medicaid children that mine would have had to just take an asprin and go to bed for. There’s breathing treatments and tubes in the ears…and ADS in just about all of the kids. All the while she’s running her welfare brood back and forth to the doctor and the hospital and guess what? We’re paying big time for those and the births of the ones on the way…And all of these moms spend their time sleeping and taking pills, when not drinking or shopping at Wal-mart or worse yet, chasing some man. But if I had my way, you can rest assured that there would be no welfare. And perhaps women would hesitate to have children they weren’t willing to support. For those already born, I think we should protect them by removing them if necessary from the custody of lousey parents that could not “rise” to the challenge of supporting them. Period. No mercy.
Our prisons are full enough. Time to stop breeding the criminals of tomorrow who were born innocent, just to provide a check for a woman and her boyfriend and yes, that’s “boyfriend” because as we all know, MARRIED people do not receive welfare. So again, what exactly are we doing to these innocent babies. Their denied a father in the home right from the start due to the wonderful welfare system. I HATE welfare. I hope I see it abolished in my lifetime.

  4. Why don’t we simply make them work at minimum wage for their benefits. How simple. They would not want to be on workfair.

  5. i agree with you 100% what can we do to put these plans into effect?

  6. Hi welfare is supposed to help peoplee but I believe it is now making life better for those on it than life is for the people paying for it I work at a place that hires welfare people because the business gets a tax break for hiring them I work with 2 woman that are single mothers of three tax time came they were all taking trips to disney land on their big tax refunds because they had earned income credit and got about 4000.00 back even though they never had any state or federal taxes withheld i had about 4000.00 withheld and still owed 500.00 Lets not mention the food stamps, hudd, free medical, cheap utilities and free child care.Their checks are free and clear to do whatever they want because everything else is taken care of while my check goes to pay my bills.
Anyway today me and my wife were grocery shopping buying stuff from the bulk bins at winco to help with rising food cost.In line in front of us were to couple first person was a big strapping young man i would say early 20s all good food steaks ribs chicken nothing was generic when the cashier told him it would be 432.00 he whipped out a ebt (foodstamp)card to pay for his bounty while trying to explain to the cashier why he was on welfare. My wife could not contain herself as she works hard and it pisses her off we cant eat like that. Next couple i would desribe as a very healthy looking couple in their early 30s Samething no generics or cheap brands when they were finished the woman paid 256.00 with ebt she was trying to hide it behind her purse after hearing my wifes comment about the first customer but we saw it. My wife started muttering to herself when one of the cashiers heard her and said try watching this all day asnd then she said and you wonder why i go home and drink anyway I believe the goverment allows the fraud to continue because it creats a lot of state jobs cutting welfare would also cut their cushy state jobs.I have a lot on this subject.but will save that for another time

  7. I agree with you 100%. Most on welfare are able bodied enough to make an honest living just like the rest of us. It really angers me when those of us that pay the taxes that provide the welfare programs are ignored during a hard time of our own. Recently, I had learned in our newspaper that a local dentists office was providing free dental care to those that did not have insurance. I informed my boyfriend of this since he was in dire need, and with out insurance. He arrived at the office to a never ending line of minorities. He said most seemed to not speak english. When it was his turn to sign up he was told to jot down his name and number and wait for a call, which he never got. How many of these people spent their lives in america, yet they seem to reap the benefits, while tried and true working americans just get shoved out the door.

  8. Welfare is a disease. It encourages people to do nothing. If you work, you actually have less in your pocket, so why work? Selling drugs seems to be the career of choice for most of them. When I first met my wife, she was on welfare. We really wanted to get out of the projects, so the solution was to work 3 jobs and bust our asses to get out of there. It was more economically viable for her to stay home since getting a part time job at 7 bucks an hour meant a total of 500 less each month. Not sure who the brilliant one was that calculates the income to benefits ratio, but clearly they were high. In any event we made it off in 6 months of busting my ass. She immediately got a job afterwards and we moved on. Meanwhile back in the projects, the mothers kept popping kids out to get raises and when they were old enough to talk they were selling weed and crack. Great system. The welfare system needs more regulation than ANY corporation as there are more dollars wasted on people who refuse to work than I can count, and I am sure the gov’t can’t either. Depressing.

  9. I couldn’t work for awhile due to health issues. So I had to get disability.

And let me say that this claim that people get welfare just because they aren’t white or that just because that don’t speak English is totally false.

Illegal immigrants do not get welfare. Actually, the poorest of the poor, outright homeless Americans, will not get it either. In order to get any government aid, one must prove identity, prove legal status, and show your social security number. Meaning, you’ll need to go down to the Social Security and welfare offices with your driver’s license, social security card, and to prove your citizenship, your birth certificate and/or passport.

So English or no English, if someone’s getting aid, he/she is either a citizen or a permanent resident.

With that said, I agree, welfare can indeed condemn people to poverty because making slightly above whatever cut off number can get you cut off, and yes, that will stop people from trying. I personally, the instant I recovered, decided to go finish my degree and I’m taking the GRE to go to grad school.

I overall would agree with most of your post, if you hadn’t have felt the need to racialize it. Why you gotta hate? There’s plenty of poor white welfarish trash too.

As for the drug angle, well, if you’re brain damaged by drug abuse/alcohol, you actually qualify for disability/welfare, since you can say you’re too brain damaged to work.

But back to overall government waste, I could say the government is wasting HUNDREDS of BILLIONS of DOLLARS on FUCKED up countries like Iraq and Afghanistan, countries that we will never control.

So why not bring our troops home, and save that money?

But back to the welfare fraud, from what I saw when I had to deal with the disability system, yes, the reason why a portion of the waste is tolerated is that if you eliminated welfare, you’d eliminate lots of state employees, private employees, and even those in the hospitals that depend on medicaid, so basically some of this is kept up to preserve the jobs of certain people. There are even lawyers that help you get on government benefits.

But before you guys go too far in condemning the system, what happens if due to illness or injury you cannot work for a long time? You’ll be down at the social security office applying for disability yourself (and people of all races do it, so don’t pull any racial crap). And if you’re laid off, you’ll go get unemployment. Keep in mind social security and medicare are welfare programs too.

But yes, being too generous on public assistance and related benefits hurts the kids most of all, and then creates another generation of poor people.

  10. I work in the public schools and everyone who work at my 3 buildings hates the welfare system as it is.
There are a minority that use it as a hand up. (Which is what it is supposed to be)However, most look at it as a hand-out.
It makes me sick to see how the unambitious and mainly lower IQ people are reproducing at an unbelievable rate. Most of their kids don’t care to learn at all. Unfor. some of them don’t have the brainpower. Most are lazy and undisciplined. They disrupt the classroom thus interfering with the learning of the kids who want to learn. How unfair is that??
I was always a liberal until I began seeing what goes on. Now I have done a 180 degree turn.
These moms raise the kids to expect that everything is just handed to you. Now we have not only the free lunches but the breakfast because God knows mom can’t be hassled to give her kid a bowl of cereal or make some oatmeal in the morning.
It is time to bring back the idea of sterilization and limits to how many children you can have on the taxpayer’s dime.

  11. Wow! I have felt this way for so long! The town I live in is the worst! My wife and I work hard to support our 3 children (2 of which I pay child support for…to a women who chooses not to work…but that’s a whole other topic) and we barely have enough money to make do. We spend our weekends at home or at the park doing whatever we can do that doesn’t require money. When I go shopping I spend around $150 a month in groceries for my family. That’s all the cheap stuff. EVERY TIME I am at the store I see grungy looking people pushing heaping shopping carts. I watch what their putting on the belts, were talking steaks, shrimp, chicken…etc… in massive quantities and then they pull out their damn food stamp card and it pisses me off to no end. I put my top ramen and off brand groceries on the belt and pull out my check card and think “maybe I need to put those bananas back, I’m not sure if I’ll have enough to cover it”. I was at a small market/deli and saw a man pay for 2 packs of cigarettes with his food stamp card!!!! WHY CAN THEY DO THIS? I just see all that money coming out of my check and go straight to these bums and it makes me sick! I once seen a women get hired at my place of work and worked for about a month before she quit. I asked a co-worker what happened to that lady and he told me that she quit because she was making more money on welfare!!!!! I was thinking well how about having pride in yourself knowing your providing to society instead of taking! I have talked to several people that think the government actually owes them for simply being “alive” and will milk them for whatever they can get… We need to do something about these people! Life is not a free ride! What do we do? If we drug tested these people, I know meth will show up in at least half of the cases in my town! I would rather pay more taxes in drug testing these people, than pay for their way of living. Anyways I can go on and on about this subject, it feels good to know other people feel the same way as I do though. I also have a problem with child support. I don’t have a problem supporting my children, but I believe the funds should be more regulated than just giving my ex a check. I have been told that I need to pay more support because what I pay is barely enough to pay her bills. Well excuse me but I kinda though the money was supposed to go to supporting my children, not paying for her cable bill! okay, I’m done.

  12. I agree with one of the comments, as well as the principle of this whole idea. I think that people should have to work for their wellfare. That is, you have to go out and clean up trash for 10 hours a weak for your EBT or Foodstamps. Nothing to over bearing, but enough to get people off their lazy asses, and giving them some kind of work ethic. Also I think that people should not be allowed on welfare for more than one year at a time, no exceptions. I see people that can barely walk still going to school so that they can better themselves, so don’t tell me that there are some people out their that just cant work because… THATS A LIE.
