Allergies Are For the Weak

I have the worst allergies on the planet. Itchy throat, clogged sinuses, watery\itchy eyes and runny nose. It feels like I have ants marching in my throat. Sometimes I wonder… Are my allergies a form of personal weakness? Millions of people suffer from seasonal allergies, but somehow I feel like mine are in a class of their own. I don’t suffer everyday… I’ll get allergy attacks maybe 3-8 times a month (during allergy season). But, when I have an attack, it’s massive. If I’m at home I generally take an allergy pill then a cool shower.. It helps. But at work I’m fucked… No meds, no showers, NOTHING. I just sit here at my desk with a wad of toilet papering in my hand. Catching all my salty snot and drainage before it runs across my lips. Sometimes when no one is looking I’ll lean my head over my trashcan and do what I call “Milking the Sinus”. It’s were I squeeze the top of my nose area (section between your nose and forehead) and release the cloudy water in my sinus cavity into the trashcan. It’s pretty gross, but it’s better than making my nose raw from wiping with toilet paper.

Hellcrawler: Creative Writing and Collaberation

I’ve started another blog for those of you interested in creative writing for books, scripts or any other creative medium! You can find it at http://hellcrawler.blogspot.com/

I wanted to make spot where creative writers can get together and talk about they’re craft. I wanted to stay away from posting my work or encouraging others to post ideas. Writers (Like myself) are a nervous group. lol So instead of posting direct ideas I post things that may help inspire writers, such as images, sounds, video or whatever else I can think of. It’s a place to help others become inspired. Also, I will note that I’m catering to the writers who prefer to write about darker subject matter. Check it out! Post a comment  and add your own inspiring sounds, pics or video.

The horror of having wisdom teeth removed and why i hate dentists

I had my wisdom teeth removed 5 months ago… three of my holes healed nicely, but 1 still remains. I have a deep pit in the back of my mouth where a wisdom tooth was once rooted. The pain is hard to explain.. It’s not a sharp pain, it’s an ache. Anytime hot or cold liquid get into that hole, the pain is sharp and unbearable.

I’m 26. Until 5 moths ago I hadn’t been to the dentist’s office since age 14. I know what you’re thinking… But I have a very nice smile. My teeth are a little crooked, but clean. Anyway, about 5-6 months ago my wife has this great idea to schedule a dentist’s appointment for me (without my consent). So, I say to myself… why not. I go, and the dentist says I need my wisdom teeth removed. Catch is.. One of them had a small abscess under it. Now, my teeth NEVER hurt before I went to the dentist. NEVER.. Now, my teeth hurt all the time (especially my open hole, that won’t heal).

I’ll continue to brush my teeth everyday and floss every once in a while…. But I will NEVER go to the dentist again.

REMAIN CALM!

I’m about to start production on a short film currently titled “Remain Calm”! My good friend Allen Reed, whom will actually be directing this film as well, wrote the script. This will be Allen’s first film as director and I’m excited about working with him on this project. On the same note this is my first time to work solely on being a production manager, editor, cinematographer as oppose to production manager, editor, cinematographer, and director.. lol

my thoughts on acting.. and why i suck at it.

When talking about the film production there are a few things to remember… EVERYONE has a special place in the production of a film, and without all those people pulling in the same direction you create pandemonium. With that said, let me tell you why I suck at acting. I’m a director… It’s where I feel comfortable. I love organizing a production, shooting a scene and watching it play out exactly how you imagined it in the pre production phase, communicating with actors and crew, orchestrating a giant circus that IS film making! When it comes to shooting a film… there is NO other position sought after as much as the role of lead actor (besides director :) Some people can act; others (like myself) cannot. As a director it’s my job to give the actor his or her motivation… give them the tools and environment they need to become their character. But, if you do not enjoy acting PLEASE don’t act! I see so many short films that have a sometimes-brilliant story, but fail to deliver on the acting. It’s NOT always the director’s fault! So people just love the idea of acting in a movie that they forget that it takes a TON of physiological channeling to become your character. YOU CAN’T just show up on set and read your lines! YOU have to feel the part!!! I think so many actors are too interested in building a portfolio than focusing on the part! Whatever, this is really going nowhere… haha! Later

Pre-production on the next film :)

Just shot a short film called “Latency”. I’m currently working on the DVD menu… by this Friday I’ll be DONE! YAY! The next film is called “Remain Calm”! All short films shot until now have been written and directed by me, so I’m excited to be working on a film written by my buddy Allen Reed! I think people are really going to enjoy “Remain Calm”! It’s a dark comedy with a really cool twist. We’re currently looking for a male and female role in this film… Male should be between the ages of 20-45, kind of a rough, unique look. The female role should be between the age of 19-35. If you’re curious about the role just shoot me an email and I’ll be happy to give the details. subamerican@gmail.com
