What can a major record label do for me, that I can’t do for myself? The Internet has made it so easy to sale and distribute your music that it’s really not necessary to hand over your rights to a major label. What we are seeing in the music industry presently is the fall of major labels and their totalitarian death grip on artists.
Why are unsigned artists still pumping out pop crap, in order to appeal to major labels? This isn’t the 80’s people!!!!
My music is for me… It’s not meant to appeal to others, or entertain bar flies. I would much rather sing and perform for other artists and open-minded people than use a tried and true chord progression so that “normal” people can enjoy it. I’ll be the first to tell you that my music isn’t all that different from what you might find on your local rock station.. So maybe my stuff is crap too… The only difference is that it’s for me.. not you.
If you’d like to hear my music…. look for it. I’m not hard to find
Hello Justin,
I am in the process of releasing my first CD/Album out on cdbaby.com. I have a website where I am also sponsoring a fundraising campaign for my next CD/Album. All of the promotion for these events I have just last week begun to implement through blogs and other websites over the internet. I will continue to do such and more. So far it has been a lot of work with few dividends, but I am confident that the tide will turn.
Reading your blog has given me a new surge of confidence and hope. I believe it is possible to sale and distribute music successfully over the internet. Your article helps to reinforce my believe during a time of putting out much and thus far seeing very little return.
Best Regards,
