So, this is my second zombie post… As oppose to asking if a zombie apocalypse is possible; lets take a quick moment to discuss what would happen if a zombie apocalypse were upon us. We all know that the more developed continents (North America, Europe, Australia, Asia, ect.) rely heavely on communication and natural resources to function as a productive society. However, an outbreak of flesh eating zombies would be more than enough to put an end to most transportation. I believe communication would survive for several years… but convenience would disappear all together.
I’ve read a few books that ponder the topic of a potential zombie apocalypse, and what I collect from my reading is that being self-sufficient is the key. An example would be the following:
1.) Ditch the car! A car requires fuel to be of any use. You can bet that most gas station would run dry in about a week. The proper form of transpiration would be a bicycle. A bicycle operates as well as your ability to propel it. Riding a bike is a great way to maintain health stamina and it’s practically silent, so maneuvering through certain areas in stealth is a possibility. If you run into an obstacle that cannot be passed on a bike then a person is capable of lifting the bike to transport it to a better are.
2.) In my opinion the uninfected would be just as dangerous if not more dangerous than the infected. Pulling together is not something that our species is known for. Not only would we be fighting off the infected, but we’d also be stealing precious resources from each other. At first the government would help the nation with armed personnel and supplies… but as soon as they realize that the epidemic is too far spread, they would quickly burry themselves in underground bunkers and wait for the chaos to pass. At that point it’s animal against animal… and uninfected against infected.
Few will survive. Those who survive the epidemic will adapt to a new way of life. A life where people are under constant threat from the infected. Remote areas in the present day world will be prime real estate for the survivors. The unpopulated regions of the arctic would flourish with life. However, once the government decides to resurface, the survivors will be eliminated. I think the survivors would hold such hatred for the government that abandoned them, that the resurfacing government would have no other choice but to eliminate the survivors as well as the lingering infected.
